  12/14/04 - A Celebration Of Life
Sheila E. celebrated in grand style on December 12, 2004, in honor of her 47th birthday, at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, joined by special surprise guests Wendy and Susannah Melvoin, Doyle Bramhall II, Tommy Davidson, Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Karl Perazzo (Santana), Deborah Parson, Tony Boyd (Eric Benet), Siedah Garrett and John Paris (Earth, Wind & Fire). Among special guests in the audience were Nikka Costa, Mike Tyson, Dawnn Lewis, Kiki Shepherd, Wayman Tisdale, Jane Child, Flex, Jose Canseco, Jack & Beth Coleman, Tom Verica (American Dreams), india.arie, and Shanice Wilson. The enthusiastic audience was treated to a 4-hour musical journey of Sheila's life. Highlights of the evening were a 30 minute jam on "A Love Bizarre" and Sheila being joined by her family; Pete Escovedo (dad), Peter Michael & Juan Escovedo (brothers), for amazing percussion and drum battles! Sheila was accompanied by her "friends" Raymond McKinley (bass), John Roberts (drums), Cat Grey (keys), Phil Davis (keys), Kat Dyson (guitar), Agape Jerry (guitar), "The Game": Randy Ellis (sax), Garrett Smith (trombone), Raymond Montiero (trumpet); Bridgette Bryant-Blades (voc), and manager and best friend Lynn Mabry (voc). Sheila wishes to thank each and every participant, friend, volunteer, fan, and invited guest for their gifts of love and taking time out to join her on this memorable occasion. Your love will never go unnoticed or forgotten!

  12/13/04 - GRAMMY Jam
GRAMMY Jam, an evening celebrating the distinguished career and music of GRAMMY Award-winning legends Earth, Wind & Fire, was held at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, December 11, 2004. Performers included Earth, Wind & Fire: Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Ralph Johnson and Verdine White, Sheila E., Yolanda Adams, David Foster, Anthony Hamilton, Van Hunt, Paul Jackson Jr., Randy Jackson, Steve Lukather, Brian McKnight, Billy Preston, Jill Scott , Usher, Kanye West, to name a few. Proceeds benefited Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Arts Education Initiative.

12/12/04 - Saturday Night Live
NBC re-aired Sheila E.'s Saturday Night Live performance of "A Love Bizarre" and "Holly Rock" (episode 11/06/1985).

11/24/04 - 98.1 Kiss FM
Sheila E. was interviewed on Bay Area radio station 98.1 Kiss FM during the Tony Sandoval show as well as the Renel In the Morning Show.

11/21/04 - The Battle Of The High School Bands
Sheila E. participated as one of the celebrity judges for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation "The Battle Of The High School Bands" held on Saturday, November 20th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Eight high school bands battled for the award of $10,000 to purchase new instruments for their school. Sheila presented the winning trophy to Redan High School from Stone Mountain, GA. Congratulations to the winners and all participants for a job well done!

Dr. William Isaac Young 11/11/04 - In Memory of Dr. William Isaac Young, 1948 - 2004
We lost a great man, doctor, friend, and Board of Director of the Elevate Hope Foundation. Dr. Young went to be with the Lord after a battle with lung cancer last week. Our prayers go out to his wife Phyllis, and the rest of his family. He will be truly missed.

11/09/04 - All Night Praise And Worship
Sheila E. and band featuring brother Peter Michael Escovedo, Kat Dyson, Raymond McKinley, Cat Grey, Ray Monterio, Garrett Smith, and manager Lynn Mabry ministered to a full house by performing a surprise concert as part of Bible Enrichment Fellowship International Church's (BEFIC) "All Night Praise And Worship" November 5, 2005. The one-hour set began well after midnight and featured songs of praise with Christian rapper's Airick Arqese and partner, Ace, from "CHRIST SIDE SOLDIERS". It was a blessed night and enjoyed by all who attended.

11/02/04 - Drum Clinic Vineland, NJ
Sheila E. and recipient of the Players Series CongaSheila E. headlined a special drum clinic that was held in Vineland, NJ on October 28, 2004 during which she demonstrated and shared some of her experiences and fundamentals of drumming and percussion, while utilizing instruments provided by TOCA, DW, Paiste, and The Music Center. The clinic also featured a special giveaway of instruments from Sheila E.'s Players Series for kids. Read more in The Daily Journal.

10/15/04 - Lincoln Child Center
Elevate Hope Foundation's (EHF) Co-Chairs Sheila E. and Lynn Mabry had the awesome opportunity to visit and tour the facility of one of its beneficiaries, Lincoln Child Center (LCC) in Oakland, CA. The children at LCC have been abused physically or sexually, or both; some have mental illness, others have been the unwilling victims of crimes. Read more about how Sheila jammed with these kids, who had nearly given up hope, on instruments donated by EHF.

09/18/04 - Tribute to Quincy Jones
United Negro College Fund's (UNCF) annual fundraiser, An Evening of Stars, at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on September 10, 2004 featured appearances by Sheila E., Lou Rawls, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams, BeBe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Nancy Wilson, Brian McKnight, Musiq, Tamia, and many more surprise guests. The show, a tribute to Quincy Jones for his lifetime achievements and commitment to helping others, plays a vital role in UNCF's mission because it illustrates the importance of minority education and creating opportunities for low-income, hard working young men and women. It was taped to air nationally on BET and WGN and locally on more than 65 network affiliates of NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, WB and UPN on January 8, 2005. Check your local listings.

09/05/04 - Imagen Humanitarian Award
Imagen Awards 2004 Ed Begley Jr. presented one of five special awards to Sheila E. during the 19th Annual Imagen Awards Gala, August 26, 2004 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Sheila was honored and awarded the Imagen Foundation's Humanitarian Award for her efforts and dedication to the community through Elevate Hope Foundation. Other honorees were Placido Domingo, Guillermo del Toro, John Leguizamo, and Fox Television Stations, Inc.. The Imagen Awards were established in 1985 to encourage and recognize the positive portrayal of Latinos in all media and to increase Latino representation at all levels of the entertainment industry. 08/31/04 - rad. donates cds to EHF
Singer rad. who also played keyboards in Prince's NPG band earlier this year has donated copies of her CD Higher Plane to benefit Sheila E.'s Elevate Hope Foundation. CD's are available through the EHF Online Store.

Mortgage Madness Basketball Tournament 08/15/04 - Sheila E.'s Celebrity Team for Charity Basketball Tournament
Jack Coleman ("Kingdom Hospital"), Tom Verica ("American Dreams"), Chynna ("WWF"), Arlen Escarpeta ("American Dreams"), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jr., Tony Blades ("former Detroit Piston"), Tha Goodfellas ("Power 106"), Larry Scott, amongst others, joined Sheila E. as players in the EHF Celebrity Team to compete at WMC Mortgage's Second Annual "Mortgage Madness" Charity Basketball Tournament at The Forum in Inglewood, CA on August 14, 2004. The event featured food and music, silent auctions, prizes and many celebrity appearances. All proceeds went towards Elevate Hope Foundation and Mentors For Youth charitable organizations.

07/05/04 - Alejandro Escovedo Benefit
Sheila E. and Pete Escovedo have recorded "The Ballad of the Sun and Moon" for the two-disc tribute album "Por Vida" which also features participations by Ian Hunter, Lucinda Williams, Rosie Flores, and many more. It was released in July 2004 to benefit the Alejandro Escovedo Medical & Living Expense Trust, set up to pay costs associated with the singer/songwriter's treatment for Hepatitis C. 06/27/04 - BET Awards
Sheila E. made a cameo appearance with Jay-Z at the 4th Annual BET Awards in Los Angeles on June 29, 2004.

06/17/04 - New ways to support EHF
Sheila E.'s charity Elevate Hope Foundation (EHF) has a new online store. T-shirts, and Cds are now available. Proceeds of which will benefit EHF, bringing it closer to its goal of helping abused children with the gift of music. Sheila E. - Musicology Tour Opening06/04/04 - Sheila E. Surprises Sold-Out Staples Center Audience by Opening for Prince
Unannounced to the public, Sheila E. and her 11-piece band opened for Prince on his Musicology tour at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on June 3, 2004. The surprise appearance consisted of a 35-minute set featuring Sheila's greatest hits as well as rare performances of "Oliver's House", "Oakland Stroke" and "Holly Rock". Later that night, Sheila jammed with Prince during his aftershow at the House of Blues in Hollywood to a packed house. While playing many of her trademark timbale solos, she also played some guitar and sang a duet with Prince on "Love Bizarre". Sheila's manager, and former Brides of Funkenstein singer, Lynn Mabry, was also invited on stage by Prince to sing background vocals.

05/27/04 - Drum Lesson with Sheila E.
Gary Feldman, the winner of the MusiCares Latin Grammy Online Auction for the 4th Annual Latin Grammy Awards 2004, met Sheila E. for a conga drum lesson at the Recording Academy's national offices, located in Santa Monica, California. After the one hour session Gary received an autographed Toca Percussion Sheila E. Custom Pro Conga Drum.




05/10/04 - Sheila E. appears on new albums by Patti LaBelle and Prince
Sheila E. appears as featured percussionist on the song "When You Smile", inspired by Celia Cruz, which also features Carlos Santana, La India & Andy Vargas on Patti LaBelle's newest CD release "Timeless Journey", as well as "Dear Mr. Man" on Prince's new album "Musicology".

04/28/04 - Sheila E. Internet Broadcast
Highlights from Sheila E.'s concert from April 2004 at Duo Music Exchange in Japan were broadcast on the Japanese Live Box website from May 10 through May 23, 2004.

04/22/04 - Divas 2004
Sheila E. performed "The Glamorous Life" at the 7th Annual VH1 Divas. She was also featured as special guest during Cyndi Lauper's performance of "Stay". The benefit concert for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation featuring Patti LaBelle, Jessica Simpson, Joss Stone, Ashanti, Eve, Tom Jones, Gladys Knight, Debbie Harry of Blondie, and The Pussycat Dolls featuring Carmen Electra, was broadcast live from the MGM, Las Vegas on April 18, 2004.

04/02/04 - Garden of Eden concert Sheila E. and Pete Escovedo
The Pete Escovedo Orchestra featuring Sheila E. on congas and Peter Michael Escovedo on drums performed at the Garden of Eden nightclub in Hollywood March 31, 2004. While the first set of the concert mainly concentrated on Pete Escovedo's music, Sheila E. took over the stage for the second set performing her greatest hits as well as Prince's When Doves Cry and a Sly Stone medley with special guest Lynn Mabry (Sheila E.'s Manager) on vocals. Another highlight of the night were the countless percussion solos that left the audience in awe.



03/26/04 - Sheila E. receives Angels Across America Award Lynn Mabry, Dr. Beverly Crawford, Sheila E. and Marino De Silva
Sheila E. was the first recipient of the Angels Across America award for her work through the Elevate Hope Foundation to bring recreational and educational therapy through music and the arts to save abused and abandoned children. The award was presented by Angels On Earth Foundation, which donates music for healing to hospitals, organizations and individuals across America, and co-sponsored by the Ritz-Carlton, McCartney Multimedia and JBL. It is given to exceptional individuals for their contributions to society. A donation in the amount of $1,000 was also given to Elevate Hope Foundation along with the award.

03/17/04 - All Starr Live Set
"Tour 2003", the live cd from last year‘s Ringo Starr and his All Star Band US tour, was released on Koch Records in March 23 2004. The 2003 version of the band had John Waite playing bass, Men At Work's Colin Hay on guitars, Paul Carrack on keyboards, Sheila E. on drums / percussion, and saxophonist Mark Rivera leading the band. The set, recorded in July 2004 at Casino Rama, near Toronto, Canada features Sheila E.'s performances of "A Love Bizarre" and "The Glamorous Life". It can be ordered through Amazon.

Peter Michael Escovedo, Sheila E.'s brother, has been nominated for an Emmy for his outstanding achievement in music direction and composition as music director of the Wayne Brady Show. The 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will air Friday, May 21st on NBC at 9:00 pm(ET). Congratulations Peter Michael on your nomination!

03/03/04 - 1960's Artist Party!
Sheila E. jammed with Toca & LP artists at Kaman Music's artist appreciation annual event in Burbank, CA on February 27, 2004. This year's event theme was "The Sixties"! Sheila, dressed as the 60's activist Angela Davis, enjoyed a wonderful evening of music and laughter with her fellow endorsers. Capping off the evening's festivities, she sat in for an All Star drum circle jam session with at least twenty other percussionist and drummers. Sheila's new Toca Percussion Player's Series and Signature Series for 2004 was presented, including glitter congas, timbales, and bongos, as well as the custom timbales ("Bling Bling") that she introduced on the Ringo Starr tour.

02/18/04 - Viewer offers $30,000 donation to Elevate Hope Foundation, Bill O'Reilly matches it
Bill O'Reilly On Tuesday, February 17, EHF Co-Chair Sheila E. appeared on the Fox News Channel show, "The O'Reilly Factor". She had been invited by host Bill O'Reilly to discuss the Elevate Hope Foundation, which helps abused and abandoned children through music and the arts. After the show aired, a viewer emailed and offered to donate $30,000 to the Foundation. Bill O'Reilly then volunteered to match that amount out of his own pocket. Sheila E. says, "I am overwhelmed by the generosity and support from Bill and his viewing audience. This money will literally save kids' lives. This is truly a blessing." In addition to the $60,000, viewers have called and emailed to donate goods and services, all of which helps with the critical work that Elevate Hope Foundation does. 02/07/04 - Macintosh Demonstration
Sheila E. at the Apple Store Sheila E. and bassist Oskar Cartaya demonstrated how they use Mac Computers to produce and create their music at the Apple Store, Glendale Galleria in Los Angeles on February 5, 2004. The event featured a short but funky instrumental music set with Sheila on drums and timbales.

01/16/04 - MTV Special on Carmen Electra's wedding features Sheila E.
Sheila E. appeared on MTV's special about Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro‘s wedding, "Til Death Do Us Part". Sheila was amongst the star-studded guest list. Please check MTV for show times.

01/15/04 - 19th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards
Sheila E. performed with Tonex at the 19th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards in Houston, TX on January 10, 2003. The awards show was hosted by Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin and Donnie McClurkin and also featured Patti LaBelle and Smokey Robinson. It will air in syndication from January 26 through February 22, 2004. Please check local listings for dates and times.

01/14/04 - Sheila E. featured on new Tonex album
Sheila E. plays percussion on the new album "Out The Box" by gospel artist Tonex. The CD was recorded live in San Diego, CA in November 2003.

With this year's parade theme being music, Sheila E. appeared on the 2004 Tournament of Roses Parade, riding on the Sesame Street float sponsored by NAMM.
